" Reading is like breathing in, writing is like breathing out." -Pam Allyn
Hello I'm Shayla Montgomery, a 34 yrs old female. I'm currently enrolled in an Associate degree in nursing at Delaware County Community College. I work at (HUP) Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania as a nursing assistant on the transplant unit.
I love to reading non fiction books that empower women such as "Girl Code". I also enjoy cooking with my daughter, while sharing my mother's and grandmother's special recipes. I'm married with one child. My daughter Mariah inspires me everyday to be a better me.
My favorite writer/poet is Maya Angelou. I love her poems my favorite one is "Phenomenal Woman" I often communicate with my family by texting, but I often write poetry as a way of expressing my feelings. I love writing its easier for me to express myself with a pen and paper instead of actually speaking words. I love writing both my home and water environment.
My past experience have shaped my author identity because I've always been quiet when it came to speaking my mind, which has inspired me to be more expressive with my words when I'm writing. I believe this course will allow me as an author to re- evaluate myself from an audience’s point of view and critique myself in a way I've never imagined.
I write because sometimes I believe people often don't want to hear the truth. The truth is very painful to many of us especially, when we reflect back on our past lives that has left ugly scars or beauty marks on us. I write what I feel at the moment or even reflect back on my past experiences. My writing is a form of therapy for me, because it's easier for me to write my words down then risk speaking them for someone to try to disease them into their own. When my words are on paper no one can change them my words are set in permanent ink. I have provided a link for an deeper insight of my personaltiy Proust Questionnaire .
