Welcome to my research page, here I will post my experience with research in the past as well as my present research paper. Here I have a link for my assignment sheet Research Assignment Sheet as well below links to my blogs that related to my research paper.
In the past I cant quite remember doing research papers in high school even though it has been many years since I was last in school. I do remember Starting a paper for my previous English 100 Composition class 4-years ago. I chose to do it on domestic violence after getting out of 8-years abusive relationships.
I felt so strongly about my experience that I believed if I could only prove that many other women were also in these same kinds of secret relationships but were choosing to hide them from friends, family, and even law enforcement. They may have done so because they feared for their lives, or was too ashamed, and were still tortured in a love & hate relationship with their abusive partner. In my research paper I wanted to bring it to light so more people could be consciously aware of the signs of someone in an abusive relationship, but also know the statistics of the women who weren’t as lucky to leave the relationship because they were killed by their abuser. I believed the more passionate I was about the project or subject the more I could get my point, idea, and argument across.
For my present English Composition I class, this research project was challenging and quite difficult for me. The topic was an American Zeitgeist, which I have left a link here for you to click on to have a the history behind the word Zeitgeist. It means to capture a spirit of a time period and more specifically a time in America, and how will things be in the future if things continue the same. I chose to do my research paper on the spirit of 2016 the epidemic of illegal opioids in the black urban community. I have linked my blog assignment Blog #10 where I discuss a little about my research topic. My focus will be on a specific part in American a city called Baltimore, MD which happens to be not too far from our U.S. capital Washington, DC.
As I have done my research project I've come across many resources that have supported my beliefs on the fentanyl crisis. In the African american community and how it is looked upon compared to its counterpart communities. As I researched more in details I see where people are treated unfair because of the color of their skin, where they live at, and the stereotypes that have haunted them for decades. In Blog #11 I more so talked about the past history of Baltimore, MD. and how the community has changed amongst the black community. How the fentanyl crisis has destroyed the people of the community and how the resources are limited when it comes to drug abuse.
Everyday I was able to come across new evidence and stories where African americans were treated unfair in the fentanyl crisis. Some article even mentioned, how in the past black communities faced other drug crisis such as the crack cocaine. The government went full force on what they believed at the time was the best way to clean the black community up from the crisis. They sent many young black men to long prison sentences instead of helping by offering resources to help the poor people of the cities. I have linked an article that talks about the Crack crisis. Seeing that our country still to this day struggles with bias even when it comes proper treatment to drug abuse. I discussed in Blog #12 about research has shown the racial bias double sounded on how white poor people are treated and blacks are treated when compared in the fentanyl crisis. I have completed my first draft and which I have linked below and will follow up with a final research paper.
